I usually catch the morning light on the Slaughterhouse covered bridge but last fall I came back through on my way to Stowe and I think this makes one of the best views of the covered bridge that I've seen so far.
The afternoon sun lights up the maple on the near side but you lose the golds and oranges on the far side. But I think the reflection of the fall colors in the water worthwhile.
The slaughterhouse covered bridge used to take people from the old slaughterhouse to the town. The slaughterhouse is now closed so there is little traffic over the bridge.
I found the best views of this bridge is not from the end of the bridge looking on but from down below looking at the bridge from the side. If you have the time there is a path that will take you along the streams edge, and if you walk a little farther, you can even get the small waterfall in the picture with the covered bridge in the background.
