Description
The daylilies were here before my dad moved in and I'm sure they'll be here long after he's gone. He preferred flowers that didn't require anything of him and daylilies are certainly nothing if self-sufficient. It might've been my aunt who first brought these transplants in from her home as she had the greenest of thumbs. My dad was simply happy to step out on the porch and see the flowers taking care of themselves. I'm not so easy going when it comes to my flowers. I've put in hydrangea, which was a gift to my wife and once the flowers had wilted back I planted the potted flower from the grocery store in the garden. What started as a small store-bought gift has turned into a marvelous garden plant that has done its best to take over its section of the garden. I've put in many other things from echinacea or purple coneflower to bleeding hearts. None of these need a lot of TLC and aside from keeping them watered in the dryer times they seem to do pretty well. But I suspect the daylilies which are my dad's favorite will be here long after I'm gone and the next family can enjoy their beauty.
