Artist's Description
The friendship which is an East Indies Trader that was constructed from a model in the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. The ship returned from her maintenance being done in New Brunswick. The day was blue skies and sun with white puffy clouds. She didn't make many sailing trips before she was once again tied up to Derby wharf. Derby wharf is the longest remaining wharf in Salem and a part of the National Historic Site (a park of the National park service).
The ship can fly up to 17 sails on her three masts to include the jibs up front and the Spanker in the aft. Here you see she is using her diesel engines to come into the harbor.
