Artist's Description

The best way to see this image is in my gallery https://vistaphotography.pixels.com The view from Derby Lighthouse back at the Custom house, the Hawkes house, and the Derby house (hidden by summer trees) is only a 1/2 of a mile but in the late 1700s to 1800s there were 19 warehouses between where the lighthouse now stands and the Custom House. On a day such as this the one mile round trip serves to lift my spirits as I look down the harbor at Winter Island Lighthouse or over where Fort Sewell is or the other side of the harbor where Marblehead lies. The lighthouse was built in 1871 here and even during the great fire of 1914 it has been running. It's red beacon blinking to guide mariners into the harbor.
